Block Party

Block parties are designed to unite neighbors and communities, to support local businesses and to help create vibrant spaces. UVI will work with a variety of city and community groups to highlight various San Jose neighborhoods to drive awareness/sales to businesses and community through a “block party”

  • Live music with multiple bands, highlighting 30+ businesses in the area

  • Launching early Spring 2023 in Fountain Alley + future sites will include the Arts District, San Jose State, City Hall and San Pedro

  • Art, food, wine and beer + Tours of new businesses

  • Launching in early spring 2023 in the Historic District/Fountain Alley area 

  • More than 100 stakeholders involved, including Mayor’s office, Councilmembers and local businesses

Speaker's Series

Learning from Copenhagen’s success, UVI is proposing to launch a Speakers Series, in 2023, focusing on improvements of urban quality of life and vibrancy.

  • Discuss success stories with experts, from across the world, about urban transformation and creating vibrant cities

  • Topics will include: what makes vibrant cities, public safety, unhoused populations, affordable housing, arts, music, culture, sports and many others

  • We will launch corresponding pilot programs that will test the topic hypothesis – quickly and cost effectively

Desired outcomes include:

city hall, residents and employees promoting and visiting the businesses, spreading the word and creating a vibrant atmosphere to help draw attention to what we have in our city
